Global warming is the condition in which the temperature of the earth raises above the normal range . In this situation, the earth becomes extraordinarily hot which results in melting of the ice – capped mountains, glaciers, climate changes etc.
There are few myths and facts related to global warming. Like, carbon di oxide is the common green house gas which is available in the atmosphere, The carbon di oxide produced by humans has increased greatly in the last 100 years which has indirectly increased the temperature of the earth greatly.
Myths And Facts Which Are Associated With Global Warming:
The Myths and Facts which are associated with the global warming includes:
-
- Myth: Carbon dioxide is the most common greenhouse gas.
- Fact: Green house gases constitute only the 3% of the total gases present in the atmosphere by volume. Now, this 3% contains water vapour which is nearly 90% of it. The remaining comprises of gases like ozone, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrogen dioxide etc. In these carbon dioxide holds the maximum share. Although the minor gases are considered as the more powerful constituents of Global warming. Although there volume is very limited but still they are thought to be the main constituents of Global warming.
-
- Myth: The temperature around the Earth are raising at a rapid and unprecedented rate.
- Fact: The satellites are measuring the temperatures regularly and in last three decades not much of the change is made in temperature rise. The ground stations note undistributed temperatures because they are located mostly in the urban or in industrial areas where the readings noted are slightly higher than that of noted in the rural part.
-
- Myth: The carbon dioxide produced by the human beings have increased the green house effect in the last 100 years, thus resulting in the increase in the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
- Fact: Although, the concentration of carbon di oxide has increased in the atmosphere due to various reasons. It has been found that the concentration of carbon di oxide has increased from 0.2% to the present level of 0.7% percentage in the atmosphere. But there are no evidence to prove that real cause of global warming is carbon di oxide only.
