Do you know that every individual should contribute to cut down global warming? Have you ever heard a word, ‘global warming’ from a President of a nation? Many of you will say ‘no’, but, its happend in G-8 summit, held in Tokyo. Top economies, wealthy and developing nations put this issue forward to keep a check on it. Every nation’s president considered it as their own and announced a global war against it.
A Global Mission:
A U.S-sponsored group of 16 nations and the European Union stated that they would set some goals to slash down green house gases to save the globe from adverse impacts of global warming. In Group of Eight summit, they declared a term based plan to protect Africa as well the planet. The G-8 nations – the United States, Japan, Germany, France, Britain, Italy, Canada and Russia, joined hands to achieve the goal of halving the global emissions by 2050.
“The success or failure of the whole accord will be decided by the question of the mid-term targets,” German Chancellor Angela Merkel replied for a question. After the meeting, the US President George W Bush states, “To adress climate change, every major economy must be at the table, and that’s took place today”. Bush has insisted China and India, the world’s larger emitters of greenhouse gases, to take a strong stance against global warming.
Chinese President Hu Jintao said that wealthy nations should take the lead in slashing emissions, and provide a clean technology transfer and financial support to developing countries to fight global warming. He also explained China’s efforts to strike on climate change and he particularly mentioned that his nation is still in developing condition, and that its per capita emission is still relatively low.
The G-8 summit, also discussed on the consequences of climate change or global warming and its impact in decades ahead. However, we should feel happy that a global war has been declared on global warming.
