The latest news in chapter of air Pollution is hair loss. Still wondering what air pollution has to do with hair? All this while you might be blaming your genes, but the latest study has revealed that people living in polluted and impure areas are more subjected to get bald, then people living in a cleaner environment.
Previously the male patterned baldness was considered to be hereditary. This male patterned baldness expands gradually. It starts with the emergence of a bald spot with gradual thinning of hair near the temples.
The researchers of University Of London have put forward this breaking news. The team of researchers have linked that environmental pollution is one of the major reasons of male patterned baldness. The head of the research team Mike Philpott said that the pollutants that enters the bloodstream or the skin also affects the hair. Stress is caused into the hair follicle further impairing the capacity to create fiber, finally stopping the hair growth.
Living in a clean less polluted area can prevent one from lesser hair loss. Though the hereditary factors of hair loss cannot be overlooked, but the new environmental factors are also contributing to the hair loss. The conclusion was derived after investigating the hair follicles from people who were suffering hair loss. The samples were studied in laboratories.
This study also appeared in the new addition of Journal Of Investigative Dermatology.
