Global Warming Aggravated by Smog

According to a new study, ozone smog is proving to increase Global Warming. It’s having a destroying effect on the atmosphere as it is damaging plants and trees that help soak up carbon emissions.

According to experts more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere will worsen climate change. The ozone layer protects life on earth from the damaging ultraviolet rays. But the ozone smog that is produced due to the fossil fuel gases and sunlight is proving to be very dangerous to life on earth.

The gas enters plants through respiratory pores called stomata in the leaves. It then produces by-products that crimp efficiency in photosynthesis, leaving a plant weak and undersized.

High levels of CO2 and ozone cause stomata to close, which means the plant takes in less of the CO2 that it needs to grow – thus causing a damaging effect on the vegetation.

One way of countering this problem is reducing the emission of polluting gases which are emitted by vehicles and industries.
