Global warming according to sources has made Los Angeles 3.2 degree Celsius hotter in summer, pushing the city’s average temperature higher than 2006’s average.
The continued effects of global warming are bound to increase in the future, warned the report by Environment California.
On examination of figures from the National Data Climatic Data Center, researchers found that the summer of 2006 and the year 2006 overall were the second-warmest on record in the history of California.
This view was further supported by Environment California field organizer Parjanya Rijal. “Throw out the record books, because global warming is raising temperatures in California and across the country,” he said.
The report also said that the year 2007 is on track to become the second-warmest year on record.
Environmental organizations have taken this issue very seriously. About three Organizations spoke out encouraging legislators to take immediate action regarding this issue. The recommendations include making steep cuts in global warming emissions, obtaining 20 percent of electricity from renewable sources, making vehicles go farther on a gallon of gasoline and reducing energy consumption in homes and businesses.
Safe Climate Act and the Global Warming Pollution Act are the only bills that would reduce pollution enough to make a dent in global warming, the groups say.
