Here are 10 simple actions you can take to help reduce global warming.
- Use reusable products as much as possible. Do not throw away, plastic bags, paper, glass or any other object. Recycle them as much as possible. Start a recycling program in your community, if you don’t have one. Just recycling household stuff enables you to save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide annually.
- A great way of saving energy which is spent in heating and cooling your home by air conditioners and heaters is by insulating your house. This way you can save 2000 pounds of carbon dioxide from being emitted into the atmosphere.
- Using a Compact Fluorescent light bulb instead of a regular light bulb helps save lot of energy. A CFL bulb lasts 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs. If every U.S. family replaces one regular light bulb with a CFL, it would eliminate 90 billion pounds of greenhouse gases, the same as taking 7.5 million cars off the road.
- Walking and biking are great forms of exercise. They also mean less driving. Every gallon of gas you save not only helps your budget; it also keeps 20 pounds of carbon dioxide outside the atmosphere.
- Buy energy efficient products. Avoid products which come in excess packaging. Especially ones that cannot be recycled.
- Save electricity by switching off lights and bulbs when you are not using it. Use water carefully.
- Plant a tree. They are an integral part of the natural atmospheric exchange cycle here on earth. They help reduce the carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere.
- Encourage others to conserve energy and explain to them the benefits of recycling.
These few tips if followed will go a long way in saving energy as well as your budget. Less energy use means less usage of fossil fuels which in turn means less emission of green house gases which ultimately leads to less Global Warming effects.
